The German Foundation Tinnitus and Hearing Charité funds research projects and promotes international science communication through congresses and symposia. Prof. Dr. Birgit Mazurek, Chairwoman of the Foundation's Board of Directors, is pleased to announce that the Foundation will again award the "Tinnitus & Hearing Research Prize" this year. Because tinnitus does not stop at Corona! The award, which is endowed with 10,000 euros, is sponsored by restructuring partner RSP GmbH & Co. KG.

The Tinnitus & Hearing Research Award 2021 honours outstanding achievements in the field of causal research, early detection and therapy of tinnitus and hearing impairment. The following papers will be accepted in 2021:

  • habilitation (post-doctorale thesis)
  • published excellent scientific papers (both not older than two years) or
  • presentations of planned research projects

The aim is to raise awareness to innovative approaches in research on tinnitus and other hearing disorders. In 2019, for example, the scientist Dr Christopher Cederroth was awarded for his translational work in the field of basic research on tinnitus and hearing loss. Last year's award winners were Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Lukas Rüttiger and PD Dr. rer. nat. Winfried Schlee.

Interested scientists can apply as of now! The deadline for applications is September 15, 2021. The award ceremony will take place on December 4, 2021 during the 22nd Tinnitus Symposium, organised by the Tinnitus Centre of the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the German Foundation Tinnitus and Hearing Charité.
